Caroline’s Bat Mitzvah | Temple Beth Elohim, Wellesley, MA

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Caroline’s Bat Mitzvah! Her entire day took place at the new Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA. The entire temple is gorgeous and extremely functional for the celebrations…everything ran so smoothly!

I arrived a little early to photograph some of the details. The everlasting flame and almond bloom sculpture were two of the items that Caroline’s parents, Karen and Steve, had pointed out to me before that day. Caroline actually drew a picture of the almond bloom sculpture for the front of the programs.

That evening, we headed back to the Temple for the celebration.  The party began with a cocktail hour in an adjoining room…during the cocktail hour, the kids mingled and also played a couple of games.

At the end of the cocktail hour, there was a Havdallah ceremony, were Caroline did a reading and the Cantor sang.

After the Havdallah ceremony, we all headed into the main reception room…it looked amazing and perfectly pink!

After some dancing, dinner and photo booth time, Caroline’s father Steve gave a quick speech and Caroline lit only a few candles.

After a quick dinner, the party was back in full swing…kicked off with game of Coke and Pepsi…It is a fast game that involves having a partner and following directions…On the left, they are having a “Shakespeare” moment, and on the right, the DJ has just announced “Coke”, where they had to run to the “Coke” side and then sit on their partners knee. They always seem to love this game!

Towards the end of the evening, Caroline’s family performed “Bohemian Rhapsody”…this is not their first time doing it…I hear that you can even find them on YouTube…it was great!

At the end of the evening, everyone formed a circle around Caroline…some people said a few nice words into the microphone, they high-fived her, and they sang the song, “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars. Just a few of the perfect words are…”when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while, because you’re amazing, just the way you are”…so sweet.
