Ali & Tom | Wequassett Wedding

Ali and Tom have waited over TWO years for this day! When COVID shut everything down, they decided to bump their wedding to 2021 and wait patiently…and it all worked out in the end! They had the gorgeous and happy day that they had always wanted!

When I arrived at the Wequassett Resort, there was a lot of fog, but as the day moved on, the fog burned off and the sun started to play peek-a-boo during their ceremony!

There were lots of special moments during their day that was filled with such emotion…from Ali and her mom exchanging cards, to her first look with her dad, to Tom’s reaction as Ali came up the isle – and that was just in the first half of the day! I have to say that Tom’s gift to Ali truly kicked off the day! After a special card, he surprised her TWO Cameo videos from two of their favorites celebrities (you can read more about it in their response below:). This is the first time I have seen this as a gift and it was AWESOME! Such a great idea!!

Take a peek at their day below and their dance party that ended with “Shipping up to Boston”! It was a great day from start to finish and I got to be a part of the whole thing!!

Ali and Tom – Thank you so much for finding me and then choosing me to be a part of your day! With our Rochester connection and teaching history, I feel like I have known you so much longer than just these couple of years! I truly hope I get to see you both again soon!

Bride/Groom Questions

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

If we had to pick just ONE moment (out of so many special moments), it would have to be seeing eachother for the first time at our wedding ceremony on the Grand Lawn. We decided not to do a first look and instead really wanted that ‘special moment’ of seeing eachother at the beginning of our ceremony. There truly was nothing like that moment as we were overlooking picturesque Pleasant Bay, breathing in the salt air, and standing under the hydrangea-covered arbor. It was everything we had hoped for and MORE!

What was your favorite detail?

While there were many details that made our day so special, the one detail that stood out to both of us is when Heather (our amazing photographer) and our videographer asked us if we’d like to do some additional photos outside while our guests were finishing their meals. We felt like we were able to really enjoy other spots at our venue such as the farmer’s porch and the adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean. It was our own peaceful, private moment to take in being a married couple and celebrate all the work we’ve put in to our wedding for the past 2 1/2 years. This peaceful moment was exactly what we needed before hitting the dance floor!

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

Take in every single moment during your special day as it does fly by! Take in the sights, the sounds, the smells – all the senses! This day is certainly nerveracking and extremely emotional so be sure to pace yourself so you can really appreciate each moment. Let your day play out and don’t sweat the small things. You’ve been planning your wedding for many months/years now – it is going to be beautiful no matter what!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Tom (the Groom) surprised me (the Bride) with two EXTRA special gifts. He wrote out a lovely card the morning of our wedding and at the end it read, “There are two people that aren’t able to be here for our big day that have been very important to us so I wanted to give them a chance to say hi to you and to wish you a wonderful wedding day.” I thought it must be a video of our pets!! Boy was I wrong! He instead had his sister, Catey (Maid of Honor), play two different Cameo videos from Tyler Hilton (musician and actor – One Tree Hill!!) and Tom Welling (actor – Smallville!!). Having been together for 16 years, we loved listening to Tyler’s music and watching Tom as Clark Kent in Smallville since high school. This was the most hysterical moment because I had NO IDEA this was coming – I was completely surprised and couldn’t even speak any words, especially since Tyler and Tom were saying MY first name!!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
We wouldn’t change a thing! Having waited another entire year to get married, this day was everything we had hoped and wished it would be. To see our friends and family come together after such a challenging year to celebrate us was truly the greatest gift of all. To see everyone able to mingle and dance without masks on was all we could have ever hoped for!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We stayed down the Cape in a cottage on Big Sandy Pond in Yarmouth. We kayaked, paddle boarded, and used the pizza floats everyday on the pond.
